The Parents Internet Safety Focus Group in cooperation with AFS Egypt conducted an awareness session in Maktabet El Tefl, Fayoum. The session took place on 15th May, 2010.

Presenters of the session were AFS volunteers, who are also members of the Parents Focus Group from Cairo and Fayoum. These presenters have undergone Internet safety and Web2 training.

The audience included other AFS volunteers and parents with different professions coming from different backgrounds. Officials from the Youth and Sports Councils, legal representatives from private schools and the Ministry of Education were present too.

The session was very useful for both the presenters and the attendees. Each one of the presenters took part in the session. The session tackled the issue of Internet safety, how can parents protect their children online and how children can protect themselves while using the internet.

The parents attending were very interested in the issue and many real life stories were told during the sessions. Some parents suggested conducting awareness sessions for parents in schools and other sessions to help them follow up on technology evolutions in the field of the Internet.
